My Grandmother’s Clock…

…was too small for the floor so it hung on my wall to adore.

It was packed quite intact and it took me some time

to unstaple and bend flap cardboard.

I was thrilled to find out that the post and customs clout

was the reason for two weeks delay.

Cause it stopped short, never to make my door,

though I tracked it and hoped every day.

Many days without any word, tick-tock, tick-tock,

It’s chime might be never heard, tick-tock, tick-tock,

Then joy! It came! Hours will never be quite the same

when my old treasured clock has its say.
