In an attempt to attract new members to our morning book club, we’ve renamed our group and remodeled our book selection process. Rather than everyone reading the same title, we’re each choosing a novel that interests us within a genre, a bestseller book list, or an author’s offerings. First up is something written by Bill Bryson, a humorous, anecdotal author, writing mostly of living life in England and the United States. In future months, we’ll read a biography, a crime thriller, and a title by Jodi Picoult, among others. On meeting mornings at a local Le Pain Quotidien, I splurge on hot chocolate, served as a tiny pitcher of warmed chocolate ready to pour into a bowl of steamy whipped milk. It’s delicious and kind of fun and goes great with a fresh buttery croissant. What’s not to like?
