Phosphenes

Today I luxuriated in my 2nd ever reflexology treatment (several years after my introductory session at a salon in Sedona). While there are numerous methodologies, today’s chosen protocol was all about detox, drainage, and elimination. Once again, I felt wonderfully woozy when it was time to return to reality. During my hour of bliss, a sideshow was the vivid colorful kaleidescope playing across the back of my eyelids. Later, a bit of googling revealed this phenomena is caused by phosphenes and the associated science about them. However, I prefer the spiritual narration entries about how these colors represent your seven chakras. I believe the touch on my head and feet released the colors of all my chakras as they were being massaged and freed from blockages. It was like throwing jewel-tone paints, one on top of the other, over and over again, against a black backdrop. It would make an incredible art exhibit. And my 3rd ever session is only a month away.

Reflexology sounds a lot like a psychedelic trip. Perhaps I should take more advantage of CA’s legal pot ….or find a reflexologist!
